Jetty

Fire fighting systems for unloading or loading of flammable product tankers can be designed according to various regulations such as ISGOTT or EN 13565. An effective way to protect a jetty is with monitors placed on jetty deck, in level with the manifold. This gives a good reach, while the monitors are free from the immediate risk of fire. The monitors can be used for firefighting with foam and cooling with water.
Protection of the jetty with ground based medium expansion foam generators is effective as well and can be designed to overflow the jetty and also cover the water surface.
A combination of these two is often preferred. When designing the extinguishing system the customer can decide if they want to protect both berthing ships and the pier or a protection only for the pier and its structure.
